More than 170 child refugees are being accommodated or are in the care of Tusla.
They came from a range of countries including Ukraine, Somalia and Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, 98 children were received into their care last year.
Clinical psychotherapist Stephanie Regan says these children can be traumatised:
"They can be highly sensitive to noise. They can be highly sensitive to being along, to the vulnerabilities and insecurity they have felt and all of the life threat. Apart from being on their own without family in an unfamiliar surrounding...these are all the elements of high trauma."
