Social Entrepreneurs Ireland (SEI) is celebrating 20 years of championing entrepreneurs on a mission to tackle social problems and improve society in Ireland.

Established in 2004, the not-for-profit national organisation supports high-potential social
entrepreneurs and has seen initiatives like Irish Men’s Sheds Association, Food CloudFumbally Exchange, and autism charity, AsIAm, all grow and flourish over the past two decades

To date, more than 600 social entrepreneurs and changemakers countrywide have been provided with over €14 million in funding and pro-bono support for their social enterprises, including around €7.5m in financial grants from SEI

In 2024, some of the changemakers supported by SEI include PsyCare Ireland, which supports members of the public at music events and festivals who may be experiencing difficult psychological or substance induced experiences.

Also, part of this year’s cohort is Little Fitness, founded by Dublin woman Sinead Ryan, which a fun inclusive fitness class for children of families living in emergency accommodation and family hubs. Niamh Tallon and Mohammed Mahomed of HerSport, also have had SEI support to empower and advocate for girls and women in sport.

“We are celebrating the immense power of people. Social entrepreneurs are society’s problem solvers. They typically see things that others do not, and, most importantly, they have the ability and drive to establish the big ideas they’re nurturing. When we harness the cumulative will of people to accelerate social change, we can literally transform lives.” said Tim Griffiths, CEO of Social Entrepreneurs Ireland.
