A public consultation meeting will be held this week on plans for a recycling centre in Co. Wicklow

Kilsaran Concrete’s plans for the facility at Ballinclare Quarry in Co. Wicklow will be heard on Wednesday.

The company intends to submit a planning application later in the year for the project, which includes an engineered landfill to restore the quarry void.

There was local opposition to the plans the last time it was proposed.

The project is now classified as a Strategic Infrastructure Development, requiring direct submission to An Bord Pleanála instead of Wicklow County Council.

Community feedback at the consultation will be crucial in shaping the future of the development.

In September of last year An Bord Pleanála refused Kilsaran permission, citing the “lack of survey information submitted regarding the existing environmental and ecological status of the subject site and surroundings”.
