Pharmaceutical company MSD has announced the creation of 350 jobs in Dublin. The positions will come on stream with construction of a new biotechnology facility in Swords.
Site works will start immediately, and manufacturing is expected to begin in 2021. A new manufacturing facility, producing biologics-based medicines for the worldwide market, will be built on the firm's previous site in Swords.
MSD employs approximately 1,800 people across its sites in Ireland and it's a leading global healthcare leader with a strong legacy in Ireland, stretching back over 50 years.
Meanwhile the decision by MSD to create 350 new jobs in Swords is a validation of what the Dublin region has to offer, according to business group Dublin Chamber.
The Chamber said the new MSD jobs were a good example of the types of jobs that Dublin and Ireland can 'continue to attract' - but only if we continue to maintain and enhance our offering.
According to Dublin Chamber CEO Mary Rose Burke: "Yet again we see that the biggest and best companies in the world want to do business in Dublin. MSD's commitment to Ireland sends a message to the rest of the world about Ireland's credentials. MSD was previously a big employer in Swords and it is fantastic to see the company expand its presence here once again."
