Christmas Day is coming around thick and fast, and among the hustle and bustle of the day there is one thing which is constantly on our minds…
What is on the TV?
Because imagine if we actually all spoke to one another for hours on end!
Anyways, you don’t need to worry about telling your Aunt Nora about how you haven’t developed ‘notions’ working in the big smoke and you do actually like going home to the country… instead you can binge on some pretty nifty TV.
We have the lowdown on the best classic films you can catch on Christmas Day;
Mr. Bean’s Holiday – UTV, 11.10am
Mr. Bean has to be counted as a treasure and what would Christmas be without it? The bumbling fool wins first prize in the church raffle – a trip to France and a video camera. And low and behold chaos ensues. Easy morning viewing.
The Importance of Being Earnest – BBC 2, 12.15pm
To be honest anything with Colin Firth gets the nod from us! The Importance of Being Earnest gives us two bachelors with the same pseudonym capturing the hearts of girls during a delightful weekend in the countryside. But just wait until the girls have to figure out who is who! Splendid Christmas viewing.
Toy Story 3 – BBC 1, 1.20pm
Woody and Buzz return to our screens, and there is a possibility you may need the kleenex for this one – no joke! After accidentally ending up in a daycare centre when their owner grows up, they quickly realise the dangers lurking under the surface and formulate an escape plan.
Scrooged – Channel 4, 2.35pm
Agh good old Scrooged. Back to give us all the feels with the family – and we all know there’s at least one family member who can relate to the role (even if we don’t say it out loud, lol). The modern take on A Christmas Carol, is the ultimate movie for those peeps who just don’t really like Christmas movies.
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory – RTÉ2, 6.05pm
If you haven’t gorged yourself into a coma from all the chocolate consumed before this beautiful movie from the gods, you will gorge throughout.
007: Skyfall – ITV2, 7.40pm
Each and every Christmas we’re greeted to a James Bond movie, and we’re pretty sure that it wouldn’t be the same if it didn’t appear on the box. The Skyfall edition sees none other than Daniel Craig grace our screens too, so that’s always a plus.
The Field – RTÉ1, 11.20pm
What a number! No one will ever forget the day that someone tried to take the Bull McCabe’s field! All those secondary school memories come flooding back in this timeless Irish classic.
