In Dublin a new city centre Luas fare is set to be introduced as part of changes announced by the National Transport Authority. To mark the opening of Luas Cross City, a €1 city centre fare is being introduced. Passengers will be able to take advantage of the new fare during off-peak hours Monday to Friday as well as the weekend.
Changes to Dublin Bus and Luas prices will also see fares for mid-range journeys rise by 5 per cent from December. Business analysts have claimed a lack of Government funding has forced the NTA’s hand to bring about the new charges.
Included in the announcement yesterday by the National Transport Authority, from December 1st, Bus Éireann fares in Cork, Limerick and Galway will be cheaper. Bus Éireann is extending city bus zones in Cork, Limerick and Galway from December. As a result 3 million journeys will get cheaper.
