UEFA have announced they’ve opened disciplinary proceedings against Liverpool over the scenes that greeted Manchester City en route to Anfield last night.

Bottles, cans and flares were thrown – forcing City to find a replacement bus to take them home after a 3-nil defeat.

Liverpool face four charges in all – for the setting-off of fireworks, thrown objects, crowd disturbances and acts of damage.

Merseyside Police are also working to identify supporters responsible

Liverpool have apologised and called the scenes “completely unacceptable” – saying they’ll work with authorities to identify individuals.

No one on the bus was injured, and the UEFA case won’t need to be answered until May 31st.

One member of the Manchester City coaching team Manel Estiarte posted a video on Instagram showing the attack from the perspective of the players and coaches, as bottles and beer cans reigned in.
