Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo just performed a solo set in Chicago, and he covered Green Day’s ‘Basket Case’ and ‘When I Come Around.’ He also covered Smashing Pumpkins’ ‘1979‘ and ‘Today’. He had good words to say about Billie Joe Armstrong and Billy Corgan saying: “Both the Billies are so awesome.”
Meanwhile, Pixies and Weezer have announced a massive, co-headline seven week North American tour this Summer 2018. The tour kicks off June 23rd in Tampa, Florida and will wrap in Phoenix, Arizona on August 12th while The Wombats will support as openers from June 23rd to July 15th.
Though Weezer and Pixies have shared stages in the past, this marks their first full tour together. Speaking of the upcoming tour, Pixies frontman Black Francis said: “We’re all big Weezer fans, so we’re really looking forward to this summer. We have a lot of respect for Weezer, they’re not afraid to take risks with their music.”
