We’re being warned of a Whatsapp phishing scam that is set to hit Ireland. The scam, which offers Adidas shoes for one dollar through a link, has already hit the likes of Belgium and the Netherlands.
People will then be asked to fill in their details, and could be charged over €40 per month after seven days. Irish users of the messaging app are being warned that if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.
IT Security and Cybercrime Analyst with ESET Ireland Urban Schrott asserted that the scam hasn’t hit Ireland yet, but it’s only a matter of time before it does.
