KISS reunited with their original lead axe merchant Ace Frehley. The reunion saw Frehley join forces with the rockers for the first time in 17 years. The show took place during an October 31st acoustic performance on KISS Kruise 8. The band have shared the performance online and are streaming official video from the event.
According to Rolling Stone, Frehley rocked with his former bandmates on their annual cruise for four songs. The tracks played included the band’s cover of the 1967 Rolling Stones classic “2000 Man”, the guitarist’s hit cover of the 1975 Hello track “New York Groove”, KISS’ 1973 debut single “Nothin’ To Lose”, and their 1975 signature tune “Rock And Roll All Nite.”
The old pairing last performed together on the band’s 2000-2001 farewell tour. That’s before the rocker restarted his solo career and KISS continued with guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer.
Halfway through the short reunion Frehley said to the audience,”This is great… this is so great. Thank you guys for inviting me up. All this couldn’t have happened if we hadn’t happened. We started this. So thank you for being here.” The acoustic set also saw former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick, (1984 to 1996) kick off the guest portion with the 1992 single “Domino”, and 1989’s “Hide Your Heart.” Check out the video below!
