Rock bands break up all the time and sometimes it’s a big deal, and other times they fade into the background and the world carries on. However, in this case, a little known Canadian doom metal group’s exit stage left has left us picking our chin up off the floor here at Nova Towers.
Witchrot hail from Toronto and their announcement on Facebook (below) could be a contender for ‘The most metal way to end a band ever’ award. Broken hearts, broken axes, shattered dreams, toxic love, it’s got it all.
The announcement reads:
“Due to the unfortunate reality of our guitarist fucking my girlfriend of almost 7 years, WITCHROT will be taking an extended hiatus,” reads the post, which is signed by an individual named Peter. Peter goes on to say he is “ripe with hate” and on the verge of writing some “devastating, torturous music.”
Oh, and the band’s drummer died.
