Black Sabbath are among a list of artists that are set awarded a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019. The award honours performers who have made outstanding contributions to the field of recording.
According to the Recording Academy,
“From their power riffs to their dark, gothic imagery. Black Sabbath arguably invented the heavy metal signposts and influenced every heavy rock band that followed.”
Alongside the metallers, George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic, Billy Eckstine, Donny Hathaway, Julio Iglesias, Sam & Dave, and Dionne Warwick. A special ceremony and concert celebrating the performers will be held on May 11 in Los Angeles, with additional details to be announced in the coming weeks.
