Security Guard Found Dead At Glastonbury Festival

A security guard for Glastonbury has been discovered dead in his tent.

Police confirmed that the guard, reportedly in his 60s, was found dead in his tent at roughly 5 pm on Sunday evening, June 30th.

According to the NME, the security guard had been working overnight during the course of the weekend.

However, had not been working for 24 hours before his passing. He has not yet been named but his next-of-kin have been notified.

The man was an employee of G4S security firm, who had 25 security guards working at the festival. A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset police said:

“At 5pm yesterday, we were made aware of the sudden death of a man in his 60s on one of the campsites at Glastonbury Festival. Officers attended and are satisfied the man’s death is not suspicious. The coroner has been informed.”

Glastonbury’s spokesperson told the media outlet that the festival wouldn’t be commenting beyond the police statement.

G4S security, which handles many high-profile events in the UK, sent their condolences to his family. The security company said in a statement:

 “At 5pm on June 30, one of our employees was found dead in his tent at Glastonbury Festival, where he had been working as a security officer. The next-of-kin have been informed. Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this difficult time.”
