Ex-Motorhead axeman Phil Campbell is on the cards to drop his first-ever solo album called Old Lions Still Roar.

Assisting on vocals will be shock-rocker Alice Cooper as well as Rob Halford of Judas Priest and Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider. Campbell took to Twitter to make the announcement:

“Happy to announce that my debut solo album Old Lions Still Roar will be out later this year. Old Lions Still Roar will include performances by the likes of @alicecooper, @deesnider & Rob Halford among others and is set to be released later this year via @nuclearblasteu!.”

UCR reports that no details have been shared yet about the record’s release date, or any other special guests or even the artwork.

This release is Campbell’s solo debut, however, it’s not his first recording since the demise of Motorhead after Lemmy Kilmister’s death in 2015.

In 2018 the guitarist dropped The Age of Absurdity as Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons. The rock band comprising of his three sons — Todd, Dane and Tyla -alongside frontman Neil Starr.

Rumours of this album have been in the pipeline since 2016 when a photo of him with former Slipknot percussionist Chris Fehn surface on social media.

Speaking to Ultimate Classic Rock at the time, the skinner spoke about the guests on the record:

“It’s about 70 percent done,” “I’m trying to get it done by the end of the year. I really would like to get it out by next summer. I can’t believe some of the artists I’ve got on there, some of my heroes. They’ve all been very cool and played on there.”
