An Aer Lingus jet had to make an emergency landing at Dublin Airport after one of its engines went on fire.

The Boeing 757 had left the busy airport when it’s reported to have incurred a birdstrike.

DL reports that the flight, Aer Lingus EI115, had departed at 10 past one today when it was forced to return.

Air Traffic Control confirmed that flames were seen emitting from the engine on the right side of the large aircraft.

Airport webcams tweeted:  “Aer Lingus #EI115 Dublin to Philadelphia (Boeing 757 EI-LBT) just suffered a birdstrike on departure and has returned to DUB.”

“Declared Pan Pan on climb-out; Tower confirmed flame from starboard engine (via ATC). H/t @Michaelkelly707.”
