Morrissey removed two people from his show in Portland, Oregon on September 30th, these particular members of the audience were protesting against his recent support of the For Britain party.

According to the NME, in some footage taken by one of the fans (seen below), Morrissey can be heard telling the two particular members of the crowd that he would not continue with his set until they were removed from the venue.

“Get out! Get out! Get out! We don’t need you!” he says. “We don’t need you! We don’t need you!” The two individuals can be seen holding signs with one reading “Bigmouth Indeed”.

Morrissey is heard shouting “goodbye” repeating it down the mic as they both exit from the venue, the lights go down and once again himself and his band start to perform again.

In 2018, news broke that Morrissey’s ‘former fans’ were going to hold an anti-racism party in Manchester on the exact night that the singer was scheduled to perform in the city. According to what some may call speculation, the former Smiths’ frontman responded by immediately postponing his UK and European tour.

Last weekend’s protest over Morrissey’s political beliefs was a backlash for him wearing a For Britain badge during his US tour earlier this year. He also wore the same item while performing on Jimmy Fallon on US TV.

A controversial statement from one of his interviews informed us that Morrissey denied being racist but claimed: “the word is meaningless now. Everyone ultimately prefers their own race … does this make everyone racist?”

Morrissey has certainly attracted some rebuke from other artists including Damon Albarn who has criticised him for his support of the nationalist party. “He doesn’t care. He’s just doing it to wind people up,” said the Blur frontman.

Billy Bragg has also been highly critical and accused him of posting a “white supremacist” video on his website. For Britain was founded by the anti-Islam activist Anne Marie Waters after she was defeated in the 2017 UKIP leadership election.

Morrissey’s controversial association with UKIP began when he first discussed accusations of racism and alleged connections between Halal meat and ISIS.
