Saturday’s November 2nd Conservatory of Music annual fundraiser, a benefit concert which includes dinner and an auction has been running for years.
On this occasion, the evening was Emcee’d by Marc Maron and the line-up on the night included performances from Eddie Vedder and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
During the evening’s festivities, Vedder and the peppers got together to perform a cover version of Prince’s “Purple Rain” and the beloved Jimi Hendrix version of “All Along the Watchtower.”
According to Spin, the evening though short and generally low-key took place in the parking lot of the Silverlake Conservatory of Music. The conservatory was co-founded by RHCP bassist Flea in 2001.
The Chili Peppers played eight songs which included favourites like “Soul to Squeeze,” “By the Way,” and “Suck My Kiss,” along with the covers with Vedder.
Vedder performed solo a variety of Pearl Jam singles, as well as songs like his now-well-known cover of Tom Petty’s “Wildflowers.”
The two bands have performed together before and recently last July, RHCP brought out Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready during their set at Montana’s Peak to Sky music festival.
