Tributes are being paid to former Republic of Ireland international Michael Robinson, who has died at the age of 61.

Robinson, who won 24 caps for the Boys in Green in the early 1980s, had been suffering from skin cancer.

Robinson was part of Liverpool's 1984 European Cup winning squad - he also played for Preston, Manchester City, Brighton and QPR as well as Osasuna in Spain.

He moved to Pamplona in Spain where he finished his career after two years in La Liga. He began to work in the media and began work as an analyst on matches live on TV.

He ultimately forged a hugely successful media career in Spain having achieved great fluency in the language and became very popular with the locals for his informed knowledge of the game of the football.

In 2007, he was given his own show on Canal+, which was later picked up by Movistar, called Informe Robinson.

As well as TV punditry, Robinson was also well known for his radio commentary for Cadena SER.

His last TV appearance came back at his cherished Anfield for Liverpool's second leg with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
