Queues for drive-thru McDonald’s caused significant traffic tailbacks in some areas of Dublin this afternoon as the long wait for familiar food favourites was finally available in the ”new-normal.”
Six drive-thru restaurants opened up this morning on the Malahide Road, Nutgrove, Kylemore Road, East Wall, Artane and Tallaght.
From early morning amid the potentially tantalising edibles on offer cars were steadily lined up in the carpark of the Malahide Road, Coolock, drive-thru area.
McDonald’s confirmed in a statement that they are working with Gardai and will shut some drive-thru lanes if the queues cause major disruptions.
Paul Pomroy, McDonald’s CEO, has asked customers to be patient with their workers as they adapt to a new way of working.
‘We expect there will be some queues for some of our busier sites and our restaurants will look different, with Perspex screens at our Drive Thru windows and employees wearing protective equipment.
‘I ask that you continue to be supportive of and patient with our restaurant teams as we slowly and safely return. We are asking all of our employees to adapt to how our restaurants now work, and will only reopen at a pace that enables them to work safely.’
