A murder inquiry is underway after the body of a homeless man was found in Kilmainham in Dublin.

A 16 year old boy has been arrested and is being held for questioning. The body of the victim - who's a homeless man in his 40s - was discovered down a lane way just off Madison Road at around 1:30am.

The victim was attacked and his phone was stolen. A 16 year old boy has been arrested and is being held for questioning at Kevin Street Garda Station.

People living locally we're shocked to hear what had happened. Jason Wilson - who sleeps rough in the area - says he feels lucky to be alive. He was hassled by two people last night simply for being homeless.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the area last night between the hours of 11pm and 2am to contact them
