Angus Young has confirmed that Axl Rose never recorded any music with AC/DC in 2016 when he stepped in for Brian Johnson.

There had been long, wide spread rumours that the Guns N’ Roses frontman worked with the Australian rock icons on new music, but Young has now debunked that rumour.

In an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine, he said “Nothing really came out solid. I know that he has a lot of things he’s involved in. I don’t even know if you would say it was music. But he had a lot of things that he was involved in.”

He was then asked if they worked on new songs and Young replied “No, no. That never happened.”

In a Q and A session from 2016, Axl Rose said “I feel protective; I feel I do not want to let this guy down – more than almost anybody I’ve ever known – and I don’t know why. And he’s very responsive to me. And they said they hadn’t seen him this happy, they hadn’t seen him moving around (this much). In between songs, he’s playing other stuff (that has inspired potential new song ideas). So that’s kind of a neat thing between musicians.”

Angus Young revealed that it was Rose who got in contact with the band about filling in for Brian Johnson. Before the final leg of their 2016 ‘Rock or Bust World Tour’, Johnson suffered from progressive hearing loss and under doctor’s orders, he sat out for the rest of the tour.

“Axl Rose contacted us (about filling in onstage). I’ll be forever grateful for him for doing that. He was very pro about doing it. He really gave a great performance” said Young.

Last year, AC/DC released their 17th studio album entitled ‘Power Up’. Band members took part in several promotional interviews to promote the album and in one of these interviews, Brian Johnson revealed that he and the late Malcom Young once went hunting for the Loch Ness Monster.
