A suspected shebeen was raided by Gardaí in Edenderry co Offaly, where as many as six kegs were seized.

Gardaí searched the premises yesterday, following alleged breaches of liqour licensing legislation.

A number of people were seen drinking alcohol when Gardaí arrived on the premises. They are to be issued with Fixed Penalty Notices for breaching public health regulations.

Gardaí statement

They also had this to say, “A significant amount of alcohol, including six beer kegs, was seized during the operation”.

They added, “Enquiries are ongoing and a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions”.

We also reported recently that some Gardaí were injured and several people were arrested, following an illegal street party in an estate in Limerick. You can check out Nova’s report on that here.

One property owner in the county said this, “It’s really dangerous out there. There are hundreds of people at different parties tonight”. Adding, “residents are tormented”.

A Garda statement also read, “Garda members attempted to engage with the gathered individuals. Following continued and orchestrated non-compliance with Public Health Regulations and failing to comply with directions from An Garda Siochána, Gardaí were forced to intervene at approximately 7.15pm”.

“An Garda Síochána in Limerick continue to have a close and positive working relationship with the authorities and community in the University of Limerick”.

UL President Kirsten May also assured that the strongest possible action will be taken against, “any student who has been found to have breached public health guidelines. Students at UL are subject to a code of conduct”.

“Overwhelming”

Gardaí also confirmed that 21 people were also arrested for breaching covid guidelines in Dublin this week.

However, they still described the level of compliance amongst people to these public health regulations as “overwhelming”.
