Dave Grohl has recalled getting high with Joan Jett and Miley Cyrus during an induction ceremony for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015, claiming he was "tripping f*****g balls".
Grohl revealed smoking weed with Cyrus and Jett to Rollingstone after Foo Fighters were confirmed for the Hall of Fame later this year. Grohl smoked the weed with Cyrus and Jett, during Jet's Hall of Fame induction in 2015.
“I just remember being there and going upstairs… the ceremonies can be painfully long”, Grohl said.
“Fortunately, Joan Jett’s performance was at the top of the show", he said. "We performed and after a few hours, I went up to the dressing room to drink and wound up smoking a joint with Joan and Miley Cyrus".
The Foos frontman also added, “I came back downstairs… and I rarely smoke weed. I remember looking over, staring at Jerry Lee Lewis and just being.... don’t even have the words to describe it. I was tripping f*****g’ balls".
However, things got a bit awkward when Grohl was asked to return to the stage for a live performance.
“At the end of the show, Ringo (Starr) got an award", Grohl revealed. “A producer was running around looking for me to sing the finale of ‘With A Little Help From My Friends".
Grohl also added, “He ran up to me and was like, ‘Dave! Dave! You’ve gotta be onstage in the next two minutes! We’re doing the big finale’ I couldn’t imagine being onstage. I walked out there so high that I hid behind Stevie Wonder".
Dave's induction in the Hall of Fame with the Foo Fighters also marks the second induction for Grohl. He was inducted as part of rock group Nirvana in 2014.
Regarding his excursion with Cyrus and Jett, Grohl ensured that there would not be a repeat performance for this year's induction.
“I mean, it was a lot to take in", he said. "I won’t be doing that this year, that’s for goddamn sure".
Meanwhile, Foo Fighters were also confirmed to headline this year's BottleRock Festival in California, as the return of live performances in the US steps up. Foos are to headline alongside Guns N'Roses and Stevie Nicks. More on that here.
