A new documentary is to hit BBC Two this November, detailing the “extraordinary final chapter” in the life of legendary Queen frontman Freddie Mercury.
This documentary, titled Freddie Mercury: The Final Act, will detail events such as Mercury’s last Queen gig and his death in November 1991. It will also include the tribute concert which took place in his honour on 20 April 1992 at Wembley Stadium.
Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor will also be interviewed for this documentary. It will also feature interviews from Anita Dobson, David Wigg, along with his sister Kashmira Bulsara and PA Peter Freestone.

This documentary will also feature interviews from musicians who performed at this 1992 special gig. These include Def Leppard’s Joe Elliot, Paul Young, Lisa Standfield, Extreme’s Gary Cherone and promoter Harvey Goldsmith.
Medical practitioners, human rights campaigners and survivors will also speak on ths show.

Freddie Mercury and his “An extraordinary journey”
“Making Freddie Mercury: The Final Act has been an extraordinary journey into the final chapter of one of rock music’s greatest icons”, director James Rogan said.
“Working with Queen and getting to see behind-the-scenes of some of their greatest performances and the legendary Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert was a rare privilege”.
Rogan also added, “Equally important was speaking to the people who had lived through the eye of the storm of the global pandemic of HIV/AIDS, with all its resonances with COVID today. Freddie’s death and the Tribute that Queen organised for him helped to change global awareness of this terrible disease at a critical time”.
On top of this, an hour long special called Queen At The BBC will also air in November. It will feature Queen’s best performances on the BBC over the years. The band’s perforamce at the Hammersmith Odeon, London from 1975 is covered on this.
Both specials will air in November.
