It has emerged that a previously “lost” Queen track featuring the late Freddie Mercury is to be released in September.

Freddie Mercury passed away from AIDS- releated complications in 1991.

The news regarding this “lost” track was confirmed by Mercury’s former bandmates Brian May and Roger Taylor who spoke ahead of their special performance at the Queen’s Jubilee at the weekend.

The pair had performed at the event, alongside Adam Lambert who has fronted Queen since 2011.

Queen were originally founded by Brian May, Roger Taylor and Freddie Mercury. The band are of course known for hits such as “We Will Rock You” and “Bohemian Rhapsody”.

“a gem”

Describing the track as a “gem”, Roger Taylor confirmed that it will arrive in September. He also revealed that it was originally recorded during the band’s Miracle sessions of the 1980s.

“We did find a little gem from Freddie that we’d kind of forgotten about”, Taylor said. “It’s wonderful. Actually, it was a real discovery. It’s from the Miracle sessions (in the late 1980s), and I think it’s going to be out in September”.

Guitarist Brian May also spoke of how the “lost” single came about, hailing it as a “very passionate peace”.

“We looked at it many times and thought, ‘Oh no, we can’t really rescue that'”, he said.

“But in fact, we went in there again and our wonderful engineering team went, ‘OK, we can do this and this’. It’s like kind of stitching bits together”.

“But it’s beautiful. It’s touching”, he added.

Celebrities Pay Tribute To “special” Queen

Last week, celebrities including Beatles icon Sir Paul McCartney paid tribute to the Queen, alongside Rod Stewart and David Beckham.

“70 beautiful years of Queen Elizabeth the second. Congrats ma’ am! And thanks – Paul⁣”, McCartney wrote.

Rod Stewart also added, “Queen Elizabeth has given incredible service to the United Kingdom over the last 70 years and I’m delighted to be able to join her in celebrating her Platinum Jubilee with the Party at the Palace”.
