Joey Jordison’s family have shared a special memorial video, marking a year since his death.

Jordison passed away this time last year. The Slipknot drummer died in his sleep.

“Joey’s death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow”, his family shared in a statement at the time.

“To those that knew Joey, understood his quick wit, his gentle personality, giant heart, and his love for all things family and music”, they added. “The family of Joey have asked that friends, fans, and media understandably respect our need for privacy and peace at this incredibly difficult time”.

“the amazing human being he was to us”

To mark a year since his passing, a video has been shared by Jordison’s family which “shows him as a brilliant musician, as well as the amazing human he was to us. We wanted to share it with the people that mattered to Joey most: his fans”.

The video was shared via NathanJonanJordison.com.

“The songs that accompany the photos in this video include some of Joey’s favorites”, the message also added.

“He referenced these songs in many of the interviews he gave over the course of his career when asked about the songs and artists that played a part in shaping him as a musician. One that hits hardest is LED ZEPPELIN’s, ‘In My Time of Dying’, named by Joey as the song he wanted played at his funeral”.

Following Jordison’s death, several houshold names from the world of rock music paid tribute to him.

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor also spoke about the death of his friend and bandmate last September.

“It’s a damn tragedy”, he said.

“He was way too young, and he was way too talented to lose him like this. I know a lot of people wonder about the circumstances that led to him not being in the band anymore, and it’s, like, we’re not gonna talk about that, because I’d rather talk about his legacy, which is that he helped create this band that we all have fought to keep out there and keep going”.

“Just the fact that he’s not here now, it’s still – I still can’t believe it”.
