Line Of Duty star Adrian Dunbar has hinted that the popular police drama could return for a seventh series.
The actor who plays Superintendent Ted Hastings has said that this potential new series could entail "three or four episodes" or "two 90 minutes specials".
However Dunbar has stated that the decision over whether the show will have a seventh series is "entirely down" to the creator Jed Mercurio.
Line Of Duty's series 6 was a roaring success among ratings. Airing between March and May 2021, we finally learned the identity of the corrupt officer H.
This corrupt cop turned out to be Detective Superintendent Ian Buckells, played by Nigel Boyle, as part of a criminal conspiracy. (Sorry for those who still have not watched the previous series!).
It has also left the door open on a potential series 7, which Dunbar said he "might hear something" about, when he reunites with co stars Martin Compston and Vicky McClure on Monday 29 August for a curry.
"There's a big appetite for more Line of Duty. It could be three or four episodes; I don’t think there’s going to be six, for some reason", Dunbar told The Times.
"It might be two 90 minutes. But it’s all entirely down to Jed what the storyline is going to be. It’s a big ask for him".
"It’s going to be really good. Maybe someone’s going to die. Someone’s going to be under threat", he continued.
"He doesn’t mind killing characters off. Maybe he’ll kill us all off. A terrible car crash when we’re rushing to the scene of a crime? We’ll have to leave it to him".
