The music video for the classic Police track 'Every Breath You Take' has passed one billion views on YouTube.
The band are also known for albums such as 'Regatta de Blanc', and 'Zenyatta Mondatta', having burst onto the scene from the original British "new wave" of the late 1970s.
The Police who consisted of trio Sting, Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers, sold more than 75 million records globally, along with earning six Grammy awards and two Brit Awards. They were also inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2003.
The band are renowned for a gluttony of hits, including 'Message In A Bottle', 'Don't Stand So Close To Me', 'Roxanne', 'Walking On The Moon', 'Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic', and of course 'Every Breath You Take'.
Released in 1983, the track featured on the Police album Synchronicity.
The music video itself was directed by English music duo Godley & Creme. It captures Sting, Copeland and Summers donning black and white. Summers can be spotted on guitar, Sting on double bass and Copeland on drums.
'Every Breath You Take' was added to YouTube in 2010. It has become the seventh 1980s music clip to join the one billion club, and the 225th music video overall.
YouTube have also revealed the track has hit 300,000 daily views on the platform on average.
Back in 2019, the track from the Police was also named the most performed single at the BMI Pop Awards, with 15 million radio plays. The song has also hit one billion streams on Spotify.
Elsewhere, the classic 1982 Police film 'Around The World' was also reissued with brand new material. Such material includes previously unreleased audio from the tour.
