Implementation is the key word at this year’s COP 27 Climate Conference in Egypt.
That’s the message from an Egyptian UCC student who is attending the event beginning today.
The gathering is focussed on collective action to tackle climate change and its impacts.
UCC student Omar Ibrahim says Africa can be utilised in fighting climate change:
“I am actually here to witness, like all the national leaders and climate policies makers, the tackling of climate actions that need to be taken from an international perspective. It is taking place in Africa, it is very inclusive to use this part of the world to tackle climate problems.”
Meanwhile, the head of the European Commission’s Representation in Ireland, Barbara Nolan, says the summit needs to generate urgent actions to help bring down emissions.
