A man has been arrested after a Garda suffered injuries in an assault in the Ballymun area of Dublin.
The Garda was assaulted after responding to a call concerning dangerous driving at Gulliver’s Retail Park, Ballymun, yesterday morning.
The Garda was taken to James Connolly Hospital to be treated for injuries. The injuries are understood to be serious but not life threatening.
It’s been reported that in the course of the attack part of one of the Garda’s fingers was bitten off.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. Any road users who were in the Ballymun area between 10:30am and noon yesterday, who may have camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.
Donegal
Meanwhile in a separate incident, a man remains in custody this morning after a Garda car was found on fire in County Donegal.
The Garda patrol car was parked outside Castlefin Garda Station. It was discovered on fire shortly before a quarter past 4 yesterday morning.
No-one was injured and the blaze was put out by local fire services.
A man in his 30s was arrested yesterday afternoon and is still being questioned this morning at Letterkenny Garda Station.
The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors is condemning the arson attack.
These attacks follow the release of a report by the Garda Representative association. The GRA spokesman Garda Damien McCarthy has said that the issue of assaults on members of the force has been getting worse with an increase of 17 per cent in such cases since 2021.
