Adding to their already busy programme across Paddy’s Weekend, in partnership with the St. Patrick’s Festival, The Guinness Storehouse and I.NY, The Ireland New York Project, are hosting two special events on March 15th and March 19th.
Irish artists including Lisa Hannigan and David Holmes will participate in live performances and panel talks to celebrate the impact & influence of homegrown talent and creatives around the world.
The two shows, which open and close the St. Patrick’s Festival celebrations at The Guinness Storehouse, welcome a range of artists and creatives to the Home of Guinness to explore and celebrate the impact & influence of Irish artists and creatives around the world – in particular, the rich and unique relationship between Ireland and New York.
I.NY Festival Founder and Director David O’Donovan said, “It’s been a pleasure to partner with the Guinness Storehouse to bring these events to fruition. There is no better setting for these conversations than what is the cultural hub of the Liberties in Dublin. We’re so looking forward to exploring and celebrating the relationship between Ireland and New York through these artists’ stories, and the particular conversations and performances that flow from them.”
The two shows explore and celebrate two particular stories of Ireland and New York. One an exploration of the changing nature of the Irish community in the city since the century turned, as we increasingly become a diaspora of artists. The other, a celebration of one of the best records ever made by an Irish producer, David Holmes’ Let’s Get Killed, built from sounds & samples recorded from across New York by the artist.
From 16th – 19th March, the Home of Guinness will welcome visitors from near and far to experience mini Guinness Gaeltachts, sample a complimentary pint of Guinness 0.0, enjoy top Irish musical talent at The Fáilte Inn and TheLiberties Stage and taste new and exclusive recipes including Guinness Brown Bread and Barley Gelato.
The Guinness Storehouse and Guinness Ireland are encouraging all festival-goers to drink in moderation and Make it a St. Patrick’s Day to Remember and for those in search of somewhere to watch the Ireland v England Six Nations game on Saturday 18th March, the Guinness Open Gate Brewery is just metres away and is showing the showdown on a big screen.
