Gardaí have issued a public appeal to help find a Dublin man, who has been missing since yesterday.

Joe Scally aged 81, has been reported missing from the Tonegee Road of Raheny. He was last seen wearing dark coloured trousers, and a black puffer jacket.

Mr Scally has also been described as 5’11 in height, strong build, with short, grey hair. He has not been seen since Wednesday (May 3).

Urging anyone with information regarding Joe Scally’s wherabouts, a spokesperson for the Gardaí issued this appeal.

“Anyone with information on Joe’s whereabouts is asked to contact Coolock Garda Station 01 666 4200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station”, they said.

Rosters Dispute

Last month, the National Executive of the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors was called to take action regarding the Garda rosters dispute.

While they agreed not to take any industrial action ahead of President Joe Biden’s visit to Ireland last month, delegates did agree to protest on one day of action every month until August.

The conference also agreed that the above actions would be set aside if meaningful internal negotiations take place on Rosters”, Antoinette Cunningham said at the time.

Cunningham also stated that the following Gardaí mandates were also issued.

  • Cooperating under protest for the visit of the President of the United States next week and without future guarantees on cooperation on further VIP visits.
  • Four protest Days of Action, to continue to highlight health, safety and welfare concerns around the Rosters issue.
  • A mandate that individual members have indicated their withdrawal of labour on a particular day if a resolution is not found and the dispute continues to escalate.
