It has emerged that Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour has become the first one to exceed $900 million.
As of June 18, the tour has accrued an impressive $910.4 million in gross revenue, according to the data ascertained from Billboard Boxscore.
This means that the music legend’s set of farewell shows have become the first tour to pass the $900 million mark. The record was held previously by Ed Sheeran with his The Divide Tour, which amassed $776.4 million in comparison.
U2’s 360 Tour hit $736.4 million, both tours a long way behind Elton John’s Farwell Yellow Brick Road Tour.
It was also reported that the European leg of Elton John’s tour amassed $89.6 million across 41 shows, with the tour set to hit between $15 million and $20 million, as eight shows are yet to be counted from this European Tour.
Elton John Breaks Viewing Figures
This news comes just weeks after it also emerged that Elton John’s Glastonbury show broke records for BBC viewing figures, attracting over 7 million viewers.
The music icon’s show at Glastonbury also became the most watched set on televsion in the show’s history.
The set saw Elton John perform hits ‘I’m Still Standing’, ‘Your Song’, ‘Tiny Dancer’, ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’, ‘Rocketman’, ‘Your Song’, and ‘I Guess Why That’s They Call It The Blues’.
