Eric Clapton will release a five-CD set of recordings from his mid-’70s sessions on November 26th. Eric - Niall Photo

Jambands.com reported that the collection, titled, Give Me Strength: The 1974/1975 Recordings, will be issued as a five CD / one Blu-ray box and will feature “88 remastered, remixed, unreleased and live recordings from the sessions that created his albums 461 Ocean Boulevard and There’s One In Every Crowd, as well as his live release E.C. Was Here, a 60-page hardbound book with extensive liner notes and rare photos, The Freddie King Criteria Studio Sessions and more.” The three albums will all be sold separately as well.

One of the downsides to having such a long and influential career is that Eric Clapton’s current work is always measured against his past successes.

He admits that he’s easily insulted when people tell him that they prefer his earlier work: “People have said to me, ‘Your best work was with Cream.’ And I think, ‘Oh, well, I know you think you’re paying me a huge compliment, but in actual fact, it’s kind of, y’know, it’s a little bit upsetting that you don’t care about what I’m doing now.”

Also coming soon from the world of Eric is  an expanded version of his 1992 Grammy Award-winning Unplugged collection on October 15th. The new Unplugged – Expanded And Remastered features the original 14-track album — including such standouts as “Tears In Heaven,” “Running On Faith,” and the reworked version of “Layla.”

A second CD featuring six songs that didn’t make the broadcast are getting their first release in the package – including “Circus” and “My Father’s Eyes,” which Clapton recorded studio versions for on his next original solo set, 1998’s Pilgrim. In addition to the full MTV performance — an hour of bonus rehearsal footage is included on DVD.
