Coming this December is the Doors‘ latest archival DVD and Blu-ray release, titled, R-Evolution.

Rolling Stone reported that the disc features “early TV appearances, music films, and commentary from bandmates John DensmoreRobby Krieger, and the late Ray Manzarek.”

R-Evolution includes such Doors classics as “Break On Through (To The Other Side),” “Light My Fire,” “People Are Strange,” and “L.A. Woman” – along with the band’s never-before-seen 1966 Ford training film featuring the Doors’ music and outtake performances from ABC’s Malibu U program.

R-Evolution will also be sold as a deluxe package including a “40-page book with lyrics, photos, trivia and more”

Before passing in may this year, Doors co-founder Ray Manzarek spoke about the mid-blowing quality of the band’s footage: “These techniques are available to everybody. Y’know, digital remastering, what you can do in the visual plane, working with the color and the clarity and the digitizing — and it’s brilliant stuff, man. It makes it absolutely beautiful. It can be done by anybody. It costs a couple of bucks; you’re not gonna get this technology for free to just make it look and sound spectacular. And that’s what we try to do. Y’know, you guys are gonna be out there buying it, so we’re gonna give you. . . The Doors always try to give you the best possible technique and technology that they can to make everything sound really – and look – really good.”
