Following his first stage performance since being cleared of sexual assault charges in court, Kevin Spacey received a standing ovation from the audience.
This took place after Spacey had been invited to perform at a theatre in Oxford by conservative columnist Douglas Murray, who also delivered this lecture.
The actor performed a brief scene from the Shakespeare play Timon Of Athens, which took place, during a lecture which was held in memory of Roger Scruton, a conservative philosopher.
Clearly the choice of play carried a hidden message, as Murray said that Timon Of Athens was about what “happens when a society drops a person for no reason”.
While his work was admired by conservatives, many people have remained divisive about Scruton’s legacy, with many accusing him of fuelling modern anti-immigrant sentiment.
Spacey Admitted To Hospital
Earlier this month, Kevin Spacey was admitted to hospital, after experiencing symptoms of a heart attack, while visiting Uzbekistan’s Afrasiyab Museum in Samarkand.
Speaking later during a speech at the Tashkent International Film Festival’s closing ceremony on Monday, Kevin Spacey confirmed that he had been given the “all-clear”, following tests.
“I was looking at these extraordinary murals on the walls, and I suddenly felt my entire left arm go numb for about eight seconds”, he said. “Now everything turned out to be completely normal and I am of course grateful that it’s not anything more serious”.
This all happened after Spacey had been earlier cleared of several counts of sexual assault in London, following a two week trial.
