Whether he likes or not, the Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards has resigned himself to the fact that the band are “bound to” have their own hologram show.

Richards remains uncertain if he would like to see the band have their own ABBA voyage-style show, complete with digital avatars instead of himself, Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood.

The Rolling Stones released their brand new album ‘Hackney Diamonds’ last week (October 20).

“wouldn’t rule it out”

On the subject of a virtual style show, an ambivalent Keith Richards spoke to Matt Wilkinson of Apple Music 1.

“Well, I certainly wouldn’t rule it out”, stated Richards. “I’m pretty sure that it is bound to happen. Do I want it? Now, that’s another thing. But I don’t know if I want to hang around that long enough, man. But at the same time, it won’t be up to me, will it?”.

Richards’ remarks come after frontman Mick Jagger had spoken about how these avatar shows could even offer a myriad of opportunities for veteran acts, saying that he has long been intrigued by the “technology breakthrough”.

“That would be stupid to me to give you a one-line answer, because I haven’t really honestly thought about it”, Jagger had previously said.

He continued, “The ABBA thing gives you this kind of technology breakthrough, which, I haven’t actually seen it yet”.

“I was supposed to go and see it, but there was a train strike. So I didn’t get to go. I wasn’t going on the train, but … the traffic was horrible, so I can’t really answer that”, the singer added.

“Obviously technology is going to give you some of the answers to this, and who knows what technology lies in store down the road?”.

“We’re already in an AI world of doing this stuff, and you can do a lot of musical stuff with not very complicated computerisation, as well”.

While they make up their mind over this virtual-style show, could the Rolling Stones offer their services as a support act for former footballer, turned actor, now singer Eric Cantona?

The Frenchman is certainly keen on the idea. More on this here.
