The Hairy Bikers’ ‘magical series’ is to continue to air on BBC Two as planned, despite the death of Dave Myers.
Myers died last week aged 66, having been diagnosed with cancer two years earlier, with his death confirmed by colleague and close friend Si King via social media.
The motorcycling cooking duo’s series who aired last night as planned, will continue to do so as planned.
News of this was originally confirmed via Instagram, confirming that The Hairy Bikers Go West, would continue to be showcased on BBC.
“Despite such sad times we know that Dave would have wanted you to continue to enjoy the magical series that he shot with Si last year”, the post stated.
“We’d like to thank everyone from all over the world, who has reached out with messages of love and support over the last few days”, it added. “Every one of them has been read and truly appreciated”.
Si King Confirms Dave Myers’ Death
Confirming the death of his close friend last weekend, fellow Hairy Biker Si King shared this heartfelt message via social media.
“Hi everyone, I’m afraid I bear some sad news”, he began. “Most of you will know Dave has been fighting cancer for the past couple of years”.
“Last night, on 28th February 2024, with Lili, Dave’s wife, his family, close friend David and myself by his side, he passed away peacefully at home”.
“All who knew Dave are devastated at his passing. His beloved wife brought him such happiness as did her children, Iza and Sergiu who Dave loved like his own”, he added.
“Personally, I am not sure I can put into words on how I feel at the moment”.
“My best friend is on a journey that for now, I can’t follow. I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime”.
“I wish you god’s speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world. See you on the other side. Love ya”.
The Hairy Bikers
King and Myers’ first appearance on TV came in 2004 with The Hairy Bikers Cookbook, which entailed a mixture of cooking and travel.
Overall, the pair published 25 cookery books, as well as further shows, The Hairy Bikers Ride Again, The Hairy Bikers’ Food Tour Of Britain, The Hairy Bikers: Mums Know Best, The Hairy Bikers’ Cook Off and Hairy Bikers: Best of British.
Account statements have confirmed that Dave Myers’ companies were worth almost £1.5 million when he died.
In accounts filed in January, Myers’ production company Sharpletter, which he co-owned with his wife Liliana, had assets worth £1.4 million,
Another company that he set up with King, Hairy Bikers Television, was worth up to £100,000, according to documents filed to the UK’s Companies House last December.
