Over the weekend, motorcyclists took part in a special memorial ride in honour of late Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers.
Myers who was best known as co-presenter of TV cook show The Hairy Bikers alongside his friend Si King, passed away back in February aged 66, following a battle with cancer.
In an emotional tribute to his friend, Si King said this in his post on X/Twitter at the time.
“Personally, I am not sure I can put into words on how I feel at the moment”, King wrote. “My best friend is on a journey that for now, I can’t follow. I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime”.
“I wish you god’s speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world. See you on the other side. Love ya”.
“really touched”
On Sunday morning, a motorcycle ride was organised by Bikers Escorts East Yorkshire in honour of Dave Myers, raising money for cancer research.
Beginning in Beverley in Yorkshire, this special event which ran for two and a half hours, saw motorcyclists pass through towns like Scagglethorpe, and Pickering, before finishing off at the seaside town of Scarborough.
In a post on Instagram, Si King said that Dave Myers “would have loved” this event.
“I hope the ride out goes well for you all. Many many thanks for remembering Dave in this way”, he wrote.
“He would have loved it. Dave’s family, friends and I are really touched. Love to you all, be safe”.
Dave Myers who was born in Barrow-On-Furness, was renowned for a combination of riding motorcycles and cooking alongside King. The pair filmed countless TV cook shows for the BBC, and published 25 cookbooks in their time.
Following Myers’ death, their last show, The Hairy Bikers Go West, continued to air on BBC this year.
