Liam Gallagher has defended the length of his shows on his recent tour with John Squire.

The singer opened up about the huge response to his new collaborative album with Squire, along with their recently finished UK and European Tour.

Gallagher was asked in a recent interview about why he and Squire had only limited the LP to just 10 songs, despite revealing that they also had material left over from writing sessions.

Previously, former Oasis singer Gallagher described touring with Squire as “mega”.

“Being on stage with John Squire, the band is top so I’ve got to be right on my f****** game. Hence why I’m having face packs and early nights”, he said.

“take your foot off the gas”

Speaking in a recent interview, Liam Gallagher explaining his reasoning for having just ten songs on the LP.

“I’m glad there’s only 10 songs on the album. I think when you start doing more songs you take the foot off the gas on certain songs. Everything went into these 10 songs”, Gallagher stated.

When he was told by the reporter that some artists expand their albums to appease streaming platforms, Gallagher replied, “Well, they’re just teacher’s f****** pets, aren’t they?”.

He added, “We’re not here to be f****** famous and try to break into China, go up against fucking K-pop and that. We don’t wanna be f****** breaking out into too many sweats, you know what I mean? We’re at a certain age now. We don’t wanna look desperate”.

“What’s wrong with yous?”

Elsewhere, Liam Gallagher also responded to some criticism levelled at him and Squire over the length of their tour shows, with each concert lasting under an hour.

“10 songs and a f****** cover!”, Gallagher remarked, while referring to how the pair play their album tracklist in full, as well as covering Rolling Stones’ ‘Jumpin Jack Flash’.

“What’s wrong with yous?”, he added.

The singer also pointed out that other new acts “wouldn’t f****** do a cover”, while insisting that audiences at his shows “can count themselves lucky”.

Last month, Gallagher also hinted that a second album with Squire was in the works. More on that here.
