Hozier have become the fourth Irish artist to reach number one in the US Billboard 100 song charts.
The singer becomes the first Irish artist to achieve this feat since Sinead O’Connor reached number one with ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ in 1990.
The Wicklow singer joins a very exclusive club including Sinead O’Connor, U2 and Gilbert O’Sullivan as Irish artists who have come out on top in the US Billboard Chart.
Having debuted in the chart with ‘Too Sweet’, Hozier has now climbed from second to top spot in the past week.
Too Sweet is the first single from his latest EP, Unheard which arrived last month (March 29).
It has also reached number one in the UK, and Ireland, as well as Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Previously, Hozier had reached second spot in the chart with his single, ‘Take Me To Church’ in 2014.
