Jon Bon Jovi has chosen that last song that he would sing if his touring career drew to a close, and its not one that you would expect.
The singer underwent vocal chord surgery in 2022, and has recently admitted that his touring future remains in doubt.
In previous interviews, Bon Jovi had said that if he can’t be “great”, then he’s “done”.
“I don’t know about a tour”, he had revealed previously. “It is my desire to do a tour next year, but I’m still recovering from a major surgery”.
“If the singing is not great, if I can’t be the guy I once was… then I’m done”, he added. “And I’m good with that”.
“puts me on the spot”
Now, when asked to choose one last song to perform, Jon Bon Jovi said: “Oh my God – just one? That puts me on the spot!”.
“The first one that came to mind would be ‘These Days,’ which I guess nobody would ever think”, he continued.
Quoting some of the track’s lyrics, Bon Jovi also added, These days, the stars seem out of reach /These days, there ain’t a ladder on the streets / These days are fast, nothing lasts in this graceless age / There ain’t nobody left but us these days”.
“I think that sort of encapsulates where I am at this moment in time”.
Elsewhere, Jon Bon Jovi also spoke about the band’s upcoming documentary: Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story, which he said will give an honest account of their history.
“It was uncomfortable,” he admitted. “But all I’ve ever wanted to sell was the truth, and so if you’re not gonna show it warts and all, don’t bother.
“Once I had realized that I’d handed the reins to [director] Gotham Chopra and his producer and editor, I was solely focused on writing a record, and then this unexpected health issue that I had to deal with”, he stated. “So the last thing I was considering was, ‘How’s this documentary going?’ I had bigger fish to fry”.
