Former Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour has announced his intensions to tour for the first time in 8 years.
Gilmour has revealed that he plans to hit the road in support of his forthcoming release, Luck and Strange.
Arriving on September 6, Gilmour has already previewed the album with the lead single, ‘The Piper’s Call’, produced by David and Charlie Andrew.
“We invited Charlie to the house, so he came and listened to some demos, and said things like, “Well, why does there have to be a guitar solo there?” and ‘Do they all fade out? Can’t some of them just end?”, Gilmour had said previously on this LP.

While no official dates have been announced regarding this tour, David Gilmour has offered a sneak preview about what this tour might entail.
In a new interview, Gilmour stated that this tour is keen to express “an unwillingness to revisit the Pink Floyd of the ‘70s”.
However, he did suggest that he may delve into the band’s back catalogue from other decades.
“Yeah, they might be better represented. I mean, at least one from the 60s. The one we’ve done in the past is ‘Astronomy [The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, 1967]. That’s always entertaining and fun and gets people off to a happy start”, he said.
Gilmour continued, “There’s songs from the Momentary Lapse Of Reason and The Division Bell albums. I mean, I think ‘High Hopes’ is as good as anything we ever did at any time”.

Elsewhere, David Gilmour also outlined his plans regarding his touring band ahead of these run of shows.
“Yeah, I changed the band around last time for a number of reasons, one of which was it was all too robotic, and some people would have been better off in a Pink Floyd tribute band. So I thought we’d get people who are genuinely creative and give them a little more space. That’s the plan,” he said.
“So we’re going to have some of the younger guys alongside Guy and the Webb Sisters, who sang with Leonard Cohen on his last tours”.
Adding that he has got “plenty more pieces of half-formed music”, that he “can get started on” in the near future, Gilmour also reassured fans that it will not be another 8 years before he releases another album.
“The intention is to get something else out as soon as possible”, he said.
