A new concert documentary on Bruce Springsteen will be made available to streaming services later this year.

The documentary, Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band will focus on the Boss’ ongoing tour, and will air on Disney+ and Hulu in October.

It is set to feature footage of several concerts, including behind-the-scenes footage of the band’s intimate rehearsals, as well as archival footage and new interviews with Springsteen and members of the E Street Band.

A firm release date has yet to be officially confirmed.

Documentary opens “a new door” to Bruce Springsteen

According to a press release, the documentary “opens a new door to Springsteen’s creative process for fans around the world, sharing fly-on-the-wall footage of band rehearsals and special moments backstage — as well as hearing from Springsteen himself”.

The press release also added: “These conversations follow Springsteen closely as he develops the story he wants to tell with this tour’s setlist — interspersed with rare archival clips of the E Street Band, underscoring themes of life, loss, mortality and community. In this way, it serves as an essential and never-before-seen chapter in an autobiographical series spanning Springsteen’s memoir Born to Run, Springsteen on Broadway, and the films Western Stars and Letter to You”.

Along with the documentary, the production of a biopic on Bruce Springsteen is also in the works, with actor Jeremy Strong reportedly in talks to play The Boss’ longtime manager Jon Landau. More on this from Nova here.

Springsteen’s tour has already seen him perform a special cover of classic Pogues hit ‘A Rainy Night In Soho’ in tribute to the late Shane MacGowan. More on this here.
