Noel Gallagher says he refused to speak to Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl at Glastonbury due to the singer’s attempts to bring Oasis back.
Grohl, for several years, has spoken about his efforts to reunite the Gallagher brothers and bring back Oasis.
Gallagher and Grohl reportedly both watched LCD Soundsystem’s set at Glastonbury from side-stage, but did not speak with each other.
“I would just like him to wind his f***ing neck in about Oasis”
On Matt Morgan’s podcast, the Oasis singer admits that he “did actually bump into Dave [Grohl].” Saying “He was about three feet away from me when I was watching LCD Soundsystem and he was staying in the same hotel I was staying in.”
“I would just like him to wind his f***ing neck in about Oasis. I wouldn’t talk to him. I haven’t got time for that f***ing mob any more,” Gallagher explains. “I haven’t got f*** all to say to him. He’s our kid’s mate anyway.”
Grohl has criticised the Gallagher brothers for their ongoing fighting, saying to NME over a decade ago, “To know that they’re out there somewhere, but they won’t come together to do the thing that everybody would love so much.”
The artist also stated live on stage in 2019 that he would like to start a petition for the cause.
Foo Fighters toured with the brothers back before their eventual split in 2009. Grohl became friends with Liam, even going as far as to call him “one of the last remaining rockstars.”
“Its getting a bit woke now”
This wasn’t Noel Gallagher’s only issue at this year’s Glastonbury. The singer has come out and criticised the festival for becoming too politically correct as of recent.
“Don’t get me wrong, I f***ing love Glastonbury,” he clarifies. “It’s getting a bit woke now, that place, and a bit kind of preachy and a bit virtue-signalling. I don’t like it in music, little f***ing idiots waving flags around and making political statements and bands taking the stage and saying, ‘Hey guys, isn’t war terrible, yeah? Let’s all boo war. F*** the Tories man,’ and all that.”
However Gallagher admits the festival is “probably the best f***ing thing about Britain apart from the Premier League.”
It was not all negativity though, as the artist also took time to praise Kneecap, a Northern Irish rap duo that performed at the festival. “We get there and the tent is absolutely f***ing smashed packed – you couldn’t get in” Gallagher says. “These three lads walk out, one of them is in a balaclava and they rap in Gaelic. They’ve got a song called ‘Get Your Brits Out’. There’s a lot of humour to it…I mean I couldn’t believe how enjoyable it was. Being of Irish heritage I found that quite funny and they were really, really good.”
