Jack Black has cancelled the rest of Tenacious D’s world tour following backlash over comments made by his bandmate Kyle Gass about the attempted assassination on Donald Trump.

Whilst on stage in Sydney, Australia last Sunday, Jack Black sang Happy Birthday to bandmate Gass, who was celebrating his 64th birthday, before asking him to make a wish, which Gass replied: “Don’t miss Trump next time”.

These remarks sparked a major backlash, including calls from Australian politicians to have the duo deported from the country.

“blindsided”

Following this, Jack Black has also announced that all “future creative plans” for Tenacious D are on hold.

In a statement, Black said that he was left “blindsided” by Gass’ remarks on stage.

“I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday”, Black said. “I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form”.

Kyle Gass Apologises For “highly inappropriate” Comments

Kyle Gass has since apologised for his comments, saying that he made an “inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake”.

“The line I improvised onstage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake. I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone”, Gass said.

He also added: “What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgment. I profoundly apologize to those I’ve let down and truly regret any pain I’ve caused”.

Tenacious D had been scheduled to perform another week of shows in Australia, before heading over to New Zealand, before kicking off a US Tour in October.

According to reports, Kyle Gass has been dropped by his talent agency in light of the remarks he made about Donald Trump’s assassination attempt.

Several media outlets including The Hollywood Reporter and TMZ have reported that Michael Greene of Greene & Associates Talent Agency are no longer representing the Tenacious D guitarist.
