The MTV VMAs have been rescheduled due to the presidential election debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
The debate which sees Trump and Harris face off on television for the first time, will take place on September 10, with the MTV VMAs pushed back to September 11 in New York.
MTV who have always encouraged fans to vote on election day, confirmed this news in a press release.
“Our fans are encouraged to tune in for the 9/10 debate ahead of music’s most iconic night”, the broadcaster stated.
They also confirmed that Sabrina Carpenter who is dating Irish actor Barry Keoghan, will also perform on the night, alongside Chappell Roan, GloRilla, and Camilla Cabello.
Tenacious D Will Be Back – Jack Black
News of this debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris also comes after Tenacious D’s Jack Black insisted that the band will be back on show, despite cancelling shows following Kyle Gass’ recent controversial comments regarding the former president.
Black recently called off a number of tour shows, following Gass’ comments on the assassination attempt on the former US president last month.
After Black asked Gass to make a birthday wish, Gass told the audience: “Don’t miss Trump next time”.
Gass’ comments sparked calls from Australian politicians to have the pair to be deported from the country.
Kyle Gass subsequently apologised for his comments, with Jack Black later revealing that the band will be back on the road soon.
“We need to take a break. Everybody needs a break sometime”, Black said in an interview on the night. “And we’ll be back”.
Black also insisted that he is still on good terms with Kyle Gass, despite his controversial joke.
“Yeah, we’re friends. That hasn’t changed”, Black explained. “These things take time sometimes… And we’ll be back when it feels right”. More on this here.
