Radio Nova has cranked up the dial and punched its way to the top, officially becoming Dublin’s Number 1 Music Radio Station in the latest JNLR ratings survey. *

The latest JNLR/Ipsos report for 2024 has revealed that Radio Nova’s market share in Dublin has rocketed to 8.3%, with long-time rival, FM104, now trailing behind at 7.3%* The latest ratings follow a 3-year successful audience run for Nova that has seen the station pass out every other music radio station and become the largest music station in the city.

CEO & Programme Director, Kevin Brannigan, expressed delight at the ratings saying, “Radio Nova has always been about striving to be unique in a crowded marketplace and staying focussed on what our listeners want – great presenters and seriously addictive music. It’s so encouraging for us that so many people listen to us every day and have made us the largest music radio station in Dublin”.

Nova now scores 246,000 weekly listeners and sees its daily audience grow 122,000 to 135,000 in its wider franchise area of Dublin city, county and commuter belt. Just in time for their 14th birthday these numbers are a clear sign that Dublin can’t get enough of Radio Nova’s seriously addictive music and top-notch shows and presenters**

Meanwhile, the station’s flagship breakfast show, “Morning Glory with PJ Gallagher and Jim McCabe” has increased its daily audience to 64,000 early risers tuning in, including back-to-back Olympic Gold Medallist Kellie Harrington who proudly praised and publicly thanked the Radio Nova duo for helping her get her through the games and win her fights in recent days.

Having just returned from being the only Irish radio breakfast show broadcasting live from the Paris 2024 Olympics, Morning Glory host PJ Gallagher said, “The last time Jim was this popular was when they first caught him and brought him back from Skull Island!. Meanwhile, his co-host Jim McCabe replied, “This is a great reward for PJ’s dedication! He said he’d give up comedy to take radio seriously and he genuinely has never been funny since!”

Meanwhile, Nova has seen audience growth across every show on it’s schedule with Radio DJ of the Year, Dee Woods, and Pat Courtenay adding 9,000 and 7,000 to their daily audiences respectively. “That an Irish-owned radio station such as Nova can pass out all of the other music radio services owned by internationally-owned groups such as Bauer (Today FM, 98FM, Spin) and News International’s Wireless (FM104, Q102) is a great achievement for our team”,said Branigan.

Radio Nova broadcasts to Dublin, Kildare, Meath, and Wicklow on FM and nationally through their smartphone apps, website Nova.ie, and the Irish Radio Player. It is owned by Irish-owned radio group, Bay Broadcasting, which also owns Classic Hits Radio and has a substantial interest in Sunshine 106.8.
