To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Friends’ 1994 premier, Warner Bros. have teamed up with Julien’s Auctions, Los Angeles for an auction of some of the sit-com’s most iconic memorabilia.
Original items worn by the much-adored late star Matthew Perry, as well as guest stars over the years including Winona Ryder, will be available for fans to bid on. Would it BE any cooler to rock in on casual Friday wearing Chandler Bing’s green sweater from Season 7 Episode 10, The One With The Holiday Armadillo?
There are 110 items up for grabs altogether, including reproduced studio scripts, Ross Geller’s apartment ottoman and phrenology head sculpture, along with a grey mohair turtle neck worn by Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green, which fans might recognise from S7E16.
Perhaps one of the most coveted items will be the tasselled orange couch from the Central Perk Café, which also features in the opening credits of each episode. An estimated $2,000-3,000 USD might just secure you the couch on which the gang shared many famous scenes. And don’t worry about coffee stains amassed over the show’s 10 year run- it’s a studio certified replica.. not the original!
David Goodman, CEO of Julien’s Auctions, noted in a statement, “Every day, somewhere around the world Friends is playing on a screen, which speaks to its enormous popularity and its attraction of new fans even decades after its finale.” The much anticipated and aptly titled ‘The One With The 30th Anniversary Auction’ will take place live online and in person at Julien’s Auctions, Los Angeles, 10am Pacific Daylight Time. Die-hard fans set your reminders…
