The Saw Doctors Announce November 3Olympia Show

Off the back of a three month summer tour of sold out shows, The Saw Doctors have just announced a 3Olympia gig scheduled for Friday the 29th of November 2024.

Following their fantastic performance at this year’s Electric Picnic, and ahead of the 3Olympia show on November 29, The Saw Doctors will release a brand-new single, I Love To Go Awanderin’, on Friday September 27th, coupled with a music video. The music video was filmed in sun-kissed Connemara last week by UK director Steven Lock, presumably a nod to former music videos (‘N17’, ‘I Useta Lover’) that capture the atmosphere of the boys’ hometown.

The Saw Doctors formed in 1986 in Tuam, County Galway. In the spring of 1988, when they were playing a six-week residency at the Quays Bar in Galway, their live show attracted the attention of The Waterboys, who were then recording their Fisherman’s Blues album in nearby Spiddal. Since then, The Saw Doctors have made it into the charts numerous times and sold out shows everywhere from New York’s Central Park to the Galway Arts Festival. Their second ever single ‘I Useta Lover’, released in 1990, spent nine weeks at number one, becoming Ireland’s all-time best-selling single.

Powered by the band’s core songwriting duo, Davy Carton (lead vocals) and Leo Moran (electric guitar), the band have recently welcomed back one of their founding band members, Pearse Doherty on bass guitar, vocals, penny whistle and wooden flute. The eight man lineup features longtime members Rickie O’Neill (drums), Kieran Duddy (keyboards and accordion) and Tommy Carton (backing vocals) as well as acclaimed sidemen, Anthony Thistlethwaite (saxophone, formerly of The Waterboys) and Noelie McDonnell (guitar and backing vocals, The Whileaways).

The Saw Doctors will celebrate their 35th year on the road with a major winter tour that kicks off at the Hammersmith Apollo, London on October 31 and includes sell out gigs in Liverpool, Leeds and Glasgow. Here in Dublin however, you’re still in with a chance to catch them at the 3Olympia this November. Tickets go on sale this Friday 27th September at 9.00am from www.ticketmaster.ie
